Ground protection mats are used in many different types of construction projects, such as general construction projects, utility and power line work, oil and gas operations, emergency response and disaster relief efforts, or environmental and restoration projects.

United Rentals provides total access solutions when you rent ground protection mats with us. We will help you determine the types, sizes and number of mats needed for the job, and our crews will handle the delivery, installation, site support and removal to keep your project on track.

When choosing ground protection mats for your project, you need to think about the terrain they will be used on and the size and weight of the equipment that will be used during your project. Different types of mats work better on different terrains and have different levels of durability. For example, composite mats are more durable in harsh weather conditions, but timber mats work better on soft or uneven terrain. Contact a United Rentals expert to determine which types of mats will work best for your project.

Ground protection mats provide safe access and protect the environment at jobsites. When working on a jobsite that has muddy or uneven terrain, ground protection mats can provide access to your site and protect your equipment, crews and the ground. These mats allow equipment and vehicles to safely travel on the access road while distributing the weight of heavy equipment to prevent damage to the ground below.

There are pros and cons to both renting and buying ground protection mats. Buying mats is best if you know that you always need the same types of mats and have a place to store them. However, if your projects involve different types of terrain, you may not want to commit to one type of mat. Renting mats is best if you may need different types of mats over time and you don’t have a place to store them. It can also save you money because you don’t have to purchase new mats when they are worn or damaged.
